    Mental game

Sunday, February 17, 2008, 10:02 AM EST [General]

Lets just say my mental game really sucks. I seem to let every little thing bother me, I know to get better I am going to have to get past this. For the first time in a long time I am very happy with my equipment, I just need to get over this hurdle that is bringing me way down. I have gone from about a 210 average to barely carrying 200 on one league and about 196 on another.  If I don't fix it I am afraid I will contiune in a downward spiral and probably come to hate the sport that I have loved for so long.

Nothing worse than negative thoughts mucking up your mental game. Some of them are so stupid that you really have to have kick yourself.
I threw my whole night off because I went to the lanes early, and had dinner at the lanes.Got no service on one side,so ordered from the other snack bar.Took almost 1/2hr to get a burger.Just in time to throw my 1st ball. What also irked me was other people comming in and getting full service within 10 min.

Another thing that messes up your mental game is if someone is psychicing you out.Might be so subtle that you don't know its happening.Have to identify that, and deal with it.

Anyways don't let it eat at you for too long, otherwise your average will be in the 180's

You'll come out of it. I understand the frustration, try to just be loose and and have fun, before you know it you'll be back on the upswing. Peaks and valleys, just like life.
    Good Luck.

    Hang in there man!
Slumps come and go. Once you love bowling, you'll never hate it. ;-)

Don't let your previous frame effect your next shot. You can't go back and fix it, so just let it go. Don't focus on what you're doing wrong, focus on your routine. Approach, timing, starring at your mark, and follow through. Always think forward, not backward. Before you know it, things will be back to normal.

    Rock On!

Hate the game? Never!! Like one of the comments already, practice focusing. I used to have the same problem. And still do to a point. If you don't feel right when you're on the approach, just step back and regroup. Taking deep breaths when you're getting set helps clear your mind also.
